So, I did a thing… I opened a thrift shop!
When I first became a mom, it was during the recession in 2010. I searched and searched for jobs, driving up to 10 hours just to interview. I was willing to take anything, but no one was willing to give me a chance for some reason.
A college degree, was getting me nowhere and I had a little to no money, doing odd jobs cleaning hotel rooms when they had guests which were a few and far between.
So everything I did buy was from Goodwill or other thrift shops. I had an eye for vintage and I knew there was a resale shop that paid for clothes. So I started buying things at Goodwill when they were on sale and reselling them to Buffalo Exchange.
I did that for years, and then smartphones became a thing when I was having my second child. I started selling online here and there and working at a vintage store, selling my finds there.
I have done a lot of different jobs since then, but this has always been in the background. I would even sell out of my basement by opening my garage door and letting people come inside. Those days are over and I am so thrilled to announce that I have my own brick and mortar store!
